The fit was right.
The style was right.
But I am not so sure about the color.
Since it was only $4.99, I brought it home but I have yet to wear it anywhere and I've decided I need a second, third and maybe fourth opinion on it. So I'm asking you guys.
Do I keep it? Do I dye it? (I've always wanted to try dying fabric.) I already have plans to customize the sleeves with floral fabric and add better buttons but my question is whether that will be enough... I'm afraid the color is a little... uh grandma... if you get my drift.
Your honesty is appreciated! :)

p.s. if you have a style question-- what to wear with a certain pair of pants-- or whether a pair of shoes are out of style-- send 'em my way and I'll post them here! I think it would be a fun little series.

ReplyDeleteThis.
I think you're right, with some updates ((new buttons and floral fabric)) it works! The fit is perfect and it's a color you probably don't have much of ;)
ReplyDeletealso love the idea of a little series for asking your fashion questions!
Hmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI think dying it another color would be really fun + cool!!
and I am LOVING your idea on adding some floral fabric to the sleeves!! ((If you do I hope it will be a mini tutorial, I would love to alter some of my clothes too )) :)
PS Can I just say how much you rock this jacket?? It looks super cute on you!!!
I'm with Beth. Just do some button/fabric updates, but I don't think you need to change the color.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of doing a fashion question series!
When I saw it on the hanger I wasn't "feeling it", but when I saw it on you I thought, "With a great floral print for the cuffs and some snazzy buttons I think it will be amazing!"
ReplyDeleteOn the hanger the color seems a bit old, but with the edition of some hip buttons and floral fabric I think you're going to really "rock it"! The color on you actually looks really pretty.
And, I mean, it's not like you would be wearing it with a matching pant suit. ;)
My vote: Step away from the dye and go with the fabric and buttons!
Hope I helped.
I'm going back and forth. On the hanger I was thinking it looked dated, but on I'm thinking it's pretty cute! :)
ReplyDeleteI would say that since you always wanted to try dyeing something then go for it! Why not experiment a little?
ReplyDeleteI say jump in and try your hand at dyeing. I dyed some onsies for a customer and it was sooooo easy and turned out great. It's really tough to mess up. Love your ideas about button and sleeve accents. It would look super cute red or navy with some navy and cream stripe material in the sleeves and interesting chunky buttons. Such a great idea! found you at the pleated poppy link up. www.madebymunchiesmama.com
ReplyDeleteI have one almost exactly the same and was a bit unsure at first too! I wear mine with navy chinos and a white or blue and white striped t-shirt and a long necklace and I love the look.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it, it's good to step out of your comfort zone!

It couldn't hurt to try dying it, since you probably wouldn't wear it otherwise. What've you go to lose?
ReplyDeleteI think the color could totally be rocked with the right modifications to said sleeves & buttons! Good luck! :)

I like the color, personally! Than again, I often wear light blue. :P Maybe if your floral fabric has some bright light pink, that will make 'tis more "whimsical"?
ReplyDeleteI think that with like a fun vintage floral print lining the cuffs *maybe in an orange? with fun buttons... the color has potential.
ReplyDeletei really like the color as is! i think buttons and brightly colored cuffs will do the trick :) it is a great fit, too!

I kind of like the color! To me it seems like a pretty blue/gray color that would go with a lot. But I like the idea of floral cuffs and new buttons. I can't wait to see the finished product!!
ReplyDeleteCute! Do the floral cuffs and cute buttons! But I like the color! What a great find!
ReplyDeleteKeep it! With the right styling, that blazer could be perfect. I'm visiting from What I Wore Wednesday and would love for you to join my ABC's of Style challenge at http://fashionsgreatesthits.blogspot.com/
