I wanted to be in a band

If you could hear this photo, you would hear the strains of a terrible, oh-so-awful, wanna-be rock band practicing. They've got some guy -- who is halfway between voice cracking and deepening -- on the mike and a few other hapless souls on the guitar and drums. Let's just say it's not pretty. I think at this moment they were butchering The Lumineers.

I always wanted to be in a band. A good band, not like the band playing their heart out for our entire neighborhood to hear, but a good, awesome band that wrote songs that made people dance and cry and laugh and sing along.

Growing up, my friend and I would jump on her bed and sing along to songs on her boombox and we had a grand plan to make our own music. We also, randomly, had a grand plan to be secret agents.
Neither of those dreams have been realized. (or have they-- you never know, my day job could be for government...)

Did you ever want to be in a band? Or did you dream of being a secret agent?

  1. I imagine being on American Idol all the time. ALL. THE. TIME. Like, performances alone in my office. Don't tell anyone.

  5. I always had dreams of being an award winning actress. I would perform in front of the mirror in hopes to master my facial expressions and delivery. I was such a little stage lovin' girl!

  8. I was going to be a pop star when I grew up. I used to dance arou d my living room singing along to Whitney Houston at the top of my lungs.

...sometimes I still think I'll grow up to be a pop star one day, except now I'm 30 and I'm pretty sure the main requirement of pop-stardom, after having 6-pack abs, is being 15 years old...

  11. I was in a band that performed for one night doing one song and I loved it. I'm on the worship team at church so I suppose I am in a band, but we don't go anywhere outside of church to play. I sing harmonies.
I love this skirt so much!
